With a brief to design a contemporary, naturalistic plant design consisting of native and perennial plants, Hal set out to create a landscape that reflected the wishes of the clients, connected to the recent renovations and matures with time to adapt to the nature of the site.

Inspired by the naturalistic planting design movement, the Moeyan Hill garden has it’s own unique Australian take and blends seamlessly with the surrounding landscape. Plants were chosen for not only their foliage, form, colour and height but also and more importantly for their hardiness once established. Due to it’s westerly aspect, lack of protection and clay soils, the plants have to be tough and able to adapt. Low maintenance was again an important element in the design process. As it matures with time it will be a garden for a homestead and a forever home for the client.
